WOMAN’S TEAM MANAGER APPOINTED

Manchester United have appointed Casey Stoney as the new head coach of the Manchester United women’s team. The former England Captain retired from playing after winning twelve major trophies and will become the first-ever head coach of the United ladies. United will start competing in the second tier of the women’s division later this year after a successful application with the FA.

IT’S BEEN A GOOD YEAR

Victor Lindelof, currently heading into the World Cup with Sweden finally gave fans his thoughts on what has been a difficult season for him. Lindelof said, “I’ve learned a lot of things, it’s been a good year for me. I’ve been playing with a lot of good players and I’ve been learning a lot from my coach, Jose Mourinho, so there’s a lot I’ve learned this season. I know the players that we are going to play against because they play in the Premier League. I’ve played against them and I know what type of players they are.” Lindelof faces Peru in the final friendly before heading to Russia for the World Cup.

BILBAO SEEK ANDER REUNION?

Atletico Bilbao are reportedly looking at ways to bring back Ander Herrera four years after he left the club to join Manchester United. Herrera is contracted with United for another year and Bilbao may have to wait for another season before making another move as Herrera is one of the unsellable for Mourinho. Bilbao want to make the Spaniard their highest paid player should a move materialise.

SAVIC FINALLY SPEAKS OUT

After months of speculation regarding his future, Serb Sergej Milinkovic Savic finally spoke out in response to the talk linking him to the likes of Manchester United. Savic said, “Am trying to remain concentrated, even though every day I read something new about me. Obviously, I feel pressure on me and know that I’ll have to live with this situation throughout the World Cup. It’s the same pressure as when I play for Lazio, so I am accustomed to it. ‘I will decide where to continue my career after the World Cup.”

UNITED CONFIRM RELEASE OF PLAYERS

Manchester United via the Premier League website confirmed the release of eight players once their contracts run out. There was a surprise on the first name on the list as the retired Michael Carrick joins Mourinho’s backroom staff. The rest of the players are names from the Academy. The name that caught the eye of most United fans is Marouane Fellaini. This, however, doesn’t mean that the Belgian is sure to depart at the end of his contract. Ibrahimovic was on this list last season but was resigned later.
