SILVER MEDALISTS
United were confirmed as the second-placed side in the Premier League after their 0-0 stalemate at the London Stadium meant that it was mathematically impossible for Spurs to overhaul United’s points tally heading into the final game of the season. United never fell out of the top two this season and the position is United’s highest finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season at Old Trafford. Mourinho was pleased to have secured second and believes that the position is an indicator of the progress made under him so far and the work yet to be done going into a pivotal next season.
DE GEA SECURES GOLDEN GLOVE
Yesterday’s 0-0 stalemate at the London Stadium meant that David De Gea secured his first Golden Glove in England. De Gea now has a tally of 18 clean sheets, two ahead of Ederson across the city with just one game to go for each player. De Gea has conceded just 27 goals this campaign and was nominated for both the PFA Player of the Year Award and Premier League Player of the Season Award. De Gea is now expected to be rested on Sunday before being restored to the lineup against Chelsea in the FA Cup Final next week.
ROMELU BACK IN CONTENTION
In his press conference on Wednesday prior to the game against West Ham, Mourinho ruled out Lukaku from the Premier League games against West Ham and Watford. But after the West Ham game, Mourinho revealed that he was expecting to play Lukaku on Sunday. Mourinho said, “Romelu plays on Sunday because he deserves that and some other players are going to play because we as a team achieve second position and we as a team are going to play the FA Cup Final.”
