With current club Captain Michael Carrick set to join the coaching staff at United at the end of the season, Mourinho will be required to name a new Club Captain ahead of next season. While Antonio Valencia has been given the responsibility on the pitch for the majority of the games, names like Pogba and David De Gea have been given the responsibility in some games. In an interview with Canal+, Pogba claimed that he has been made captain by Mourinho. Pogba was quoted as saying: “Mourinho has made me captain. He gave me the keys, the responsibilities at a great club like Manchester United.”
BACKED FOR THE BALLON D’OR
Football legend Ronaldinho has backed United midfielder Paul Pogba to win the coveted Ballon d’Or in the future. The Brazilian who won the award in 2005, said,” He can win the Ballon d’Or. He is young, talented and has the ability to play anywhere, he can play the free role, defensive, as a runner or attacking. He has the characteristics of a player who can fill in any position, he can make history.” Ronaldinho also added,” I do not think a problem with Mourinho. I don’t think he has one either.”
FELLAINI’S POTENTIAL DESTINATIONS?
Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave Manchester United at the end of the season and his representatives have already been touch with clubs in England and abroad as he looks to secure his future ahead of a pivotal World Cup with Belgium. The midfielder has previously been linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and clubs in Turkey. It has now been speculated that Premier League clubs Leicester, West Ham have also been in touch. Juventus are another team that has inquired about Fellaini’s situation.
HINTING TOWARDS AN OVERHAUL?
Jose Mourinho comments after United’s FA Cup semi-final heroics suggest that he targets a summer spending spree that will bring in at least two names in midfield to replace to retiring Michael Carrick and the expected departure of Fellaini.
