UNDER 18 FINAL
After the disappointing manner in which the United first team collapsed, there is something to look forward to for the United faithful as the under-18s take on Chelsea for the National under-18 Final later today. The two teams finished at the top of the respective Division and it promises to be a cracker with both sides having loads on potential. United fans can catch the game on the club’s YouTube channel or on the club’s in-house channel MUTV.
MOURINHO RIPS INTO PLAYERS
There was no denying in the rage Mourinho was in after his side lost to Brighton at the South coast. Mourinho ripped into his players, especially the frontmen after his game. Mourinho said,” The players that replaced others, they didn’t perform. When individuals don’t perform at a good level, it is difficult for the team to perform at a good level. Maybe you can see why some play more than others now.” The boss rightly criticized the attitude of some of the players and questioned the desire of the players.
LUKAKU MISSED
This is the sort of game that Lukaku thrives in. United clearly missed their striker who has turned in to something of a talisman in recent months. Rashford and Martial could barely provide what the Belgian provides on the pitch and it was felt. Mourinho acknowledged this in his post-match words and said,” Why always Lukaku? You have the answer. We’re not as good individually as people think we are. If we finish second, it’s great – it’s more than great. So maybe now you understand why some players play more than others and why don’t ask all the time why A, B and C don’t play more.”
UNITED COMPLETE FABINHO DEAL?
Reports in France suggest that Monaco has agreed on a deal to sell Fabinho this summer. While the destination club was not revealed, it was said that the team is definitely not PSG. United and PSG were frontrunners for the Brazilian’s signature and fans are optimistic about United getting the versatile player that they so crave. Recent comments by Mourinho about wanting to bring in more Brazilians only adds fuel to the speculation. More is expected to be available on Fabinho to United in the coming days and weeks.
NEVILLE CRITICAL
Gary Neville was critical of the United players that showed up or rather didn’t against Brighton. In his analysis of the game for Sky Sports, the former United captain said,” That Mourinho interview signalled the final straw for him with some of the players and the trust that you need with players are gone. I’m trying to think of a word that you would use to describe that performance. Woeful? Awful? It was a shocker. From the first minute to the last minute.” Harsh but fully valid comments from Neville.
