Man United Round-Up: In talks with French midfielder, Uruguayan striker will miss start of season, Hunt for La Liga defender

Man United have received a transfer blow in their pursuit of Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. According to a French report, France international has made his desire to join PSG known to his representatives.

However, it’s also said that Camavinga’s agent would prefer him to move to Old Trafford this transfer window. Eduardo, who is now into the final year of his deal at the Ligue 1 club, has been frequently linked with a switch to Man United across the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils chiefs would prefer to add a midfielder over a right-back before the summer transfer window shuts. This isn’t the first time details have emerged claiming that the 18-year-old youngster wants to join the Parisians over Man United, though.

Previous reports suggested any transfer for the French midfielder would materialise towards the end of summer, with Stade Rennais willing to cash in, according to Express.

Man United centre-forward will miss start of the season

Man United centre-forward Edinson Cavani is expected back in England on Thursday but could see his come back to training delayed by quarantine rules.

Uruguay international has been granted an extended holiday after his partner gave birth to his fourth child earlier this summer, with the Norwegian manager keen to give the striker as much time as possible to be with his family.

After new addition Jadon Sancho linked up with the team on Monday, Edinson is now the only Red Devils footballer yet to come back.

However, what is less clear is when the 34-year-old centre-forward will be allowed to come back to training. The Uruguayan centre-forward is currently waiting to see whether the striker will have to quarantine upon his arrival in England.

The Norwegian manager is said to be keen to sign a right-back to the club to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Kieran Trippier the main target.

However, as it stands, an agreement for the 30-year-old defender is at an impasse, with the Spanish club’s asking price currently too high and Ole Gunnar Solskjær impressed by the displays of Diogo Dalot while on loan with Milan and during pre-season.

The Red Devils are looking to end their four-year title drought this campaign and have already made waves in the summer transfer market to do so.

Man United got a large chunk of their business done early on in the transfer window, signing Tom Heaton from Aston Villa.

The Red Devils followed that up by concluding their near four-year pursuit of Jadon Sancho by signing the Englishman in a £73m deal from Borussia Dortmund before agreeing on a deal for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane too.
