Who is Jadon Sancho?
Jadon Malik Sancho, simply known as Jadon Sancho, is an English winger who plays for Premier League club Manchester United. England international was born on 25 March 2000 in Camberwell.
Previously a youth footballer with Watford and Man City, Jadon signed his first senior deal with Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Sancho made his debut for the BVB with Eintracht Frankfurt on 21 October.
He scored his first professional goal against Bayer Leverkusen. In his second campaign, Sancho established himself as a regular member of the first-team and was named in the 2018–19 Bundesliga Team of the Season.
Ahead of the 2019–20 campaign, the 21-year-old winger won his first title following the DFL-Supercup win against Bayern Munich. On 31 May 2020, the English winger scored his first career hat-trick in a 6–1 away victory over Paderborn.
On 13 May 2021, Jadon scored a brace in a 4–1 victory over RB Leipzig in the 2021 DFB-Pokal Final. In summer 2021, it was announced that the Red Devils and Borussia Dortmund had reached an agreement for the English attacker’s transfer.
The transfer was completed in July 2021, after the 21-year-old winger signed a five-year deal with the option of a further year.
What is Jadon Sancho’s international career like?
Jadon has been capped by the Three Lions youth sides at U16, U17 and U19 levels. In May 2017, Jadon was part of the Three Lions U17 side that reached the final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and was named footballer of the competition for his displays.
On 8 October 2017, Sancho scored twice in England U17’s first game with Chile. Coming on as a substitute for Brereton, Jadon scored the last of the goals in England’s 4–1 victory over Hungary in the first game of the elite round on 21 March 2018.
Following an excellent start to the 2018–19 campaign, the English attacker was called up to the Three Lions senior team for the first time on 4 October 2018 in preparation for UEFA Nations League matches with Croatia and Spain.
During the September internationals, Jadon scored his debut goal for England, a brace, in a 5–3 home win against Kosovo in a Euro 2020 qualifier on 10 September.
In summer 2021, the 21-year-old winger was brought on as a 120th-minute substitute for Kyle Walker during the UEFA Euro 2020 Final with Italy. Sancho took the Three Lions’ fourth penalty in the subsequent shoot-out, which Gianluigi Donnarumma saved.
