The FA Cup resumes this weekend with two high-profile semi-finals at Wembley. Arsenal face Manchester City on Saturday and Chelsea take on Manchester United on Sunday. City are the current holders and will look to retain their title, Arsenal have won the competition more times than any other club and will hope to reach their first final since 2017. United look like the side of old under former player Ole Gunnar Solskjær and they will be desperate for their first FA Cup since 2016, while Chelsea will be hoping to finish their inconsistent season with another FA Cup honour.

Arsenal v Manchester City

Arsenal had a tough run to the semi-finals. The Gunners eliminated two Premier League teams, Bournemouth and Sheffield United, were nearly held at home to Leeds United and beat Portsmouth away. Mikel Arteta’s side scored seven goals and conceded just two in their four matches.

Manchester City have beaten Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Port Vale in previous rounds. Pep Guardiola’s side have conceded only one goal in the competition so far and scored 11. They are the third top-scoring team in this season’s FA Cup.

Arsenal will be without Eddie Nketiah, who remains suspended. Calum Chambers (knee), Bernd Leno (knee), Gabriel Martinelli (knee), Pablo Marri (ankle) and Matteo Guendouzi knock) will all be unavailable for Arsenal. Sergio Aguero remains out for the rest of the season for City with a knee injury.

Arsenal long-standing struggle against City continued in their last encounter as the Gunners suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Etihad in June. The Gunners have not beaten City since April 2017. City will be eager to reclaim their FA Cup title having missed out on the Premier League title this season so expect them to win by a few goals against an Arsenal team who struggle against Guardiola’s side.

Chelsea v Manchester United

Manchester United have beaten Wolves, Tranmere, Derby County and Norwich in their FA Cup run. United are the second top scoring team in the FA Cup (12 goals) and have kept the most clean sheets (4).

Chelsea had a challenging run of fixtures to the semi-final, which included Premier League champions Liverpool and high-fliers Leicester City. The Blues have not faced a team outside the top two divisions, also beating Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Hill City in earlier rounds. They have conceded just one goal and scored seven in the FA Cup.

Chelsea will be without injured Bill Gilmour (knee) but N’Golo Kante and Fikayo Tomori may return from injury for the Blues. Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe look set to miss the semi-final tie with respective injuries. Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams returned from injuries in mid-week for United.

Chelsea have struggled for form this season. Their poor record against United, losing all three meetings this season, including a 4-0 loss, will make for a difficult match. But Frank Lampard’s side have looked solid in the FA Cup, overcoming top Premier League sides. Ole Gunnar Solskjær has made United a very difficult team to beat and their ability to keep clean sheets in the FA Cup will make them favourites to reach their first cup final since they won the competition in 2016.
